This is Safet
Turin, 1944, Giuseppe Piero Casassa, Mario Casassa and Pier Sergio Quaglia found Refit, a Group of Companies involved in steel production and sale.
Engineering skill, great insight and a new product marketing soon guaranted its success: in the ‘50s, Refit is the first Company in Italy to introduce high yield steel, which will completely replace the traditional steel bar for reinforced concrete. A number of studies and tests performed with Turin Polytechnic, involving the Department of Structural Engineering, gave excellent results and the product was immediately adopted: the name of Refit was established on the Italian market.
An innovative spirit of creativity that will accompany every activity in the future.

In 1967 Refit is the first Company in Italy to install a pilot plant for the industrial pre-shaping of steel for reinforced concrete: today building sites all over Europe use this system. The Company also enjoys considerable success in the metalworks field, with three factories for the production of steel ribs for tunnels, equipped with complex, powerful oildynamic machines automatically bending large profiles; expanding rapidly even as a steel producer, thus consolidating its position in the European market, mainly in Germany, France and Switzerland.
In 1970 Refit export department is hived off, and takes the name of Safet, operating specifically on the markets of North Africa, Middle-East and Far-East, while Mecsider, an Italian company and another “showpiece” of the Group, addresses itself to the European markets: France, Benelux, Monaco, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
In 1987, Safet acquired two new partners: Renzo Marucco and Sergio Demi, who joined Giorgio Quaglia and Maurizio Casassa, heirs to the historical founders.
The new corporate structure encourages further expansion; and today, after sixty years, Safet can count on the presence and commitment of the third generation of Management.
